• Julia, among numerous other issues, is particularly frustrated by the prohibition against sexual expression, as she needs to be able to act out in this regard
• Winston opens up to Julia about having considered pushing his ex-wife Katherine off a cliff, to which Julia is surprisingly understanding

• To their secret meetings in their love nest, Julia brings exotic food, and she also puts on make-up, although this is forbidden
• When the two wake up again, there is a rat in the room, of which Winston is enormously afraid. The two must go home separately so that no one will suspect and expose their relationship
• Winston likes Julia more and more and can already well imagine a future with the young woman
