Please note that these solutions are only suggestions. There are various possibilities for argumentation.
- Here we are then.
- Let's discuss how we can revitalise our neighbourhood on a small budget.
- Let's start with...
- On the one hand / on the other hand
- It must be considered
- In my opinion / I think, personally, ...
- I agree / I disagree
Possible introductions to the topic and the argumentations
- there are numerous reasons why an area or neighbourhood loses its charm and attractiveness over the years. In particular, neighbourhoods which are located on the outskirts of a city or from which many residents have recently moved away have to struggle with declining popularity
- for the remaining residents of the neighbourhood, this means that there are fewer and fewer opportunities to get together, go out, do things, and places where they can spend time and thus strengthen the community
- but why is it that after years of vibrant life, certain neighbourhoods suddenly seem to be deserted, businesses are vacant and the quality of life of the residents steadily declines?
- reasons for this could be that the city or the neighbourhood no longer has the money to invest, that the place has too few jobs or that too many people have moved away all at once
The challenges different neighbourhoods are facing
- one idea to make the neighbourhood more attractive to its residents again would be to set up a community book exchange
- for one, you don't have to spend a lot of money on this, as such a Community Book Exchange meeting place can simply consist of a box or waterproof book case
- in addition, such an exchange station ensures its own survival by having residents take books from the collection and replace them with their own books
- the idea behind such an Community Book Exchange is that the initiators initially provide a selection of books which can be borrowed by the residents. In the future, the offer will renew itself, since for every book you take, you need to contribute a new one
- a Community Book Exchange can also become a social hub. Neighbourhood residents can meet at the book box while browsing for new finds, and meanwhile share literature, offer suggestions and possibly even organise reading evenings together and start book clubs
- why a book exchange station is also a good idea is that it counteracts society's consumerism and throwaway behaviour. In this way, a book that has already been read finds a new owner and you mutually benefit from the book purchase that you made in the past

- another idea to bring the neighbours closer together again would be to set up an outdoor gym that could also function as a meeting place
- although setting up such an outdoor gym entails considerably more costs than a book box, but even if such a project initially incurs costs, it should be worth it to the city that its residents will be able to enjoy a higher quality of life in the future
- creative solutions can be resorted as well: you can either, for example, collect fitness equipment from the entire neighbourhood that the individual residents already have at their homes
- in addition to the possibility of making the Outdoor Gym a central meeting place, it also serves the purpose of promoting the health of the residents and consequently increasing their quality of life

- when a once bustling and sworn neighbourhood disintegrates and both the entertainment and the number of people decline, it does something to those left behind
- ideally, the municipality or city council addresses the situation that a neighbourhood is increasingly losing its attractiveness
- but if this is not the case, the residents themselves must take their fate into their own hands and take measures that will lead them to counteract the high turnover of other residents
- a neighbourhood that has known each other for years will in most cases react more quickly when it comes to the scenario described above
- nonetheless, even if the neighbours have hardly known each other and the community has not been strong so far, this should not be used as an excuse not to do anything about the departure and the declining attractiveness of the neighbourhood
- the most important thing is to actively take steps that lead to an improved neighbourhood and not wait in passive mode for something to change on its own or through the authorities
Conclusion
