Please note that these solutions are only suggestions. There are various possibilities for argumentation.
- Here we are then.
- Let's discuss the potential of the arts in raising people's awareness of the challenges of our time.
- Let's start with...
- On the one hand / on the other hand
- It must be considered
- In my opinion / I think, personally, ...
- I agree / I disagree
Possible introductions to the topic and the argumentations
- Urban Knitting is one form of craft-based artistic expression. It formulates its own particular area where amateurs and professionals, traditions and the contemporary culture cross
- this soft urban art is based on handicraft skills, but it operates using strategies familiar from both fine arts and street art
- contrary to spray can art, the new urban art forms visualise and increase the attractiveness of the city space without leaving permanent marks on property

- Urban Knitting, also known as Guerilla Knitting is an Art form founded in the USA, more precisely in Houston/Texas. It was here that Magda Sayeg founded the group Knitta Please, also known by its abbreviated form Knitta, in 2005
- the knitted works range from simple rectangles for wrapping lampposts to jumpers for statues or covers for buses, cars and other large objects
- there are works made of only one type of stitch, but also works of art made of several colours and with different patterns
- there are no limits to creativity. For example, the Berlin group Panikstricken attached a knitted Christmas tree to a bus pole in an underground at Christmas
- Magda Sayeg and her growing group developed their idea further and the objects they knitted around became bigger and bigger: for example, they knitted around a bus in Mexico City
examples and ideas of art in public places
- Guerrilla Gardening refers to the clandestine sowing of plants in public spaces without first obtaining permission
- the reason for this can be the desire to make the city more beautiful and colourful - or to practice urban self-sufficiency
- even more often, however, there is a political motive behind it: With these protest actions, the guerilleros/guerilleras (i.e. the plant activists) want to criticise environmental policy, the agricultural industry or the increasing construction of green spaces
- Guerrilla Gardening has its roots in New York City in the 1970s: a group of activists unceremoniously begins to green the fallow areas of the city

- especially approaching someone with whom you haven't had any contact for years takes a lot of courage
- before you decide to donate to a charity or organisation, you should first carefully research the recipient of the donation so that you do not regret your decision to invest your money later
- like all things in life, becoming a parent at a young age brings both drawbacks and gains: you will have to be responsible yourself to raise a child, as they will be dependent on your care in the future. At the same time, the birth and raising of a child holds one of the greatest gifts on earth
- getting closer to someone you have had mostly negative feelings about can prove to be one of the biggest challenges of all. For this you need inner greatness and to be able to free yourself from your own ego
Political motivation behind Guerilla Gardening and examples
- it is true that there are highly laudable motives behind wild gardening. But other than Urban Knitting, Guerrilla Gardening is illegal
- by definition, it is planting on land that does not belong to you, without permission. And that is forbidden in Austria and Germany and can be punished as damage to property
- Urban Knitting is a form of contemporary street art. The artists do not aspire to change the definition of an artwork, but rather to question the existing environment
Conclusion
