Miranda: Yes, we just have to make sure we are on the right platform. They have two platforms for each line. They are either called Northbound and Southbound or Westbound and Eastbound. So there is nothing to worry about as long as we find the right direction.
When does the train leave?
Sam: Sure, I cannot wait to finally be on the London Underground! Did you guys know, that the London Underground is the oldest and second longest underground in the world? It has 275 stations!
Sarah: If we hurry, we can hop on the next train. It leaves in seven minutes. Do you have your Oyster cards ready?
Sam: Of course, we are taking the red line which is also called "Central" towards "Hainault" and leave the Tube at "St. Paul's" is that right Sarah?
Sarah: Yes! And we don't have to change anywhere, so we really should be safe!
Miranda: What are we waiting for? Let's go!
The three friends went on the escalator to go underground. They were very excited because it was the first time for all of them.
Downstairs they found the ticket barriers and scanned their Oyster cards.
They were right on time and could step right into the tube.
That is an escalator. In England the rule to stand on the right and walk on the left is very important.
